Hiking the Inca Trail via the Scared Valley to Machu Picchu is both demanding & awe-inspiring. 4 days of cold, ache & tiredness disperse as the haze lifts to disclose the emerald peaks & terraced ruins of the mystic ancient city.

• The ideal time to tour is May to September. No doubt, it is the busiest season, but it is also the dry season. However, you do not wish to tour during rainy seasons. Keep in mind that, the Inca Trail is closed In February.

• Make your reservation for Inca Trail several months before – up to a year if you are going during the peak season. Remember that, you can only visit with a certified agency, so book up quickly.

• Pick your trekking agency cautiously. Shop around & ask several questions: what you will have to bring, how many person to a tent, how many caretakers for the group, if there’re preparations for special diets. It is worth paying more for a well-known company that treat its caretakers well and values the environment.

• It doesn’t matter what time of the year, the trail becomes cold at night. Carry a warm sleeping bag & layer your garments.

• Other must-brings: a flashlight, sturdy shoes, water purification tablets, a basic first-aid kit and high-calorie snacks.

• Carry a stash of Peruvian currency for purchasing snacks & bottled water along the way, and also for tipping the cook, porters and guide.

• Height sickness is serious and can spoil your tour. The biggest error travellers can make is to fly directly to Cusco and suppose to hike next day. You should give yourself some time to get familiar with the altitude first.
